GODZILLA VERSUS THE SEA MONSTER (1966) was the first Godzilla film released directly to television in the United States. It also just happened to be my first Oddball Film Report subject. As I noted there, the film was originally meant for King Kong to star in. Substituting the big blue dinosaur (when the rights to the great ape were tangled) resulted in one fun adventure movie. By the way, in Italy, the film's title actually mentioned Godzilla! Most such films screened in Italy were given a title change that somehow referenced King Kong. This time, however, they got the right monster in the title! As you can see below, that's about all they got right!
